It Would Have Been Cooler as a Van

I just came across this cool series of illustrations by Brandon Ortwein called "It Would Have Been Cooler as a Van". The concept is simple, he took 26 famous movie and TV vehicles and transformed them into vans. Some examples are the General Van, Back to The Future DeloreVan, Herb The Love Van, Kitt Van and Tron Van. Check them all out here: society6.com

This is my favorite piece: E.T.'s new Pimp Ride
"This Kuwahara dirt bike couldn't be more Pimp.
E.T. made a serious step up in his choice of get away ride."

These prints are also available as stretched canvases, iphone cases, laptop and ipad skins, iphone and ipod skins.

Very rarely do you come across a mint condition Bedford CF, specially in the UK where the bad weather will cause rust issues. Well Christmas is coming early this year for someone with the right amount of cash. Up on ebay this week, there's a "show-room condition" CF2 panel van! Show-room condition is actually the sellers words and by looking at the photos and reading the description you can see why he calls it that. This 2.0L petrol has only 19000 original miles and has been taken care of really well. Being a 1986 model its one of the last CF's to roll out of the plant just before the Isuzu joint venture.
I don't know if that green stripe around the van is original, there seems to be some logo on the door that might be from some company. I don't know.
If your looking for a museum quality CF2, this is the one to buy now because I don't think another like it will appear in the near future.

Up for sale on ebay UK this week, we find a custom camper. The best of both worlds!
A 1980 CF250 camper van with a custom van look.
Being a camper, it has the pop up roof with beds, fridge, cupboards, cooker, sink, large side windows and seats 4. What gives this camper its unique street van look are the fender flares, front skirt and chrome wheels.
Mechanically the seller has done a lot of work, the 2.3L petrol engine runs fine. The body and interior needs some reconditioning and with some work this van could easily end up looking even better.
If you like custom vans but need a camper this is worth taking a look at.

This is probably one of the coolest custom CF's I have seen from down under.
On the exterior you notice some body work that really gives this van a unique custom look. Fiberglass fender flares have been smoothed in as well as the front bumper. Mesh behind the original grille and a small louver on the hood leaves you guessing what's powering this green machine.
Walking around the van you also notice the lack of the side barn door and at the rear a roll pan took the place of the bumpers and license plate that has been moved up on the door. The rear lights were also replaced with some long vertical lights frenched into the body. To top off all these modifications a nice mate green paint job has been applied.

Under the hood - or should I say inside the van - there's a 5.0 V8 with fuel injection mounted to an automatic gearbox with a B&M shifter. I'm not a fan of custom gearboxes but since the V8 is so wide, the consequent custom dog house leaves no room for a clutch pedal... a usual problem with this type of engine swap making the automatic gearbox the most common solution.
To stop this van all four brakes have been upgraded to disks.

The interior is where the fun begins. You basically have black leather bucket seats, a custom dash with VDO gauges and a 3 arm racing steering wheel. The rest is empty so you get to use your imagination and create your own custom interior.

The buy it now price is 9000 AUD.
