ebay: 1982 Bedford CF ex demo van - UK

This is an interesting Bedford CF that would be worth restoring. It has an interesting history and is loaded with rare options, including some that I never seen before like headlight wipers! Unfortunately it needs major rust repair.

"This Bedford CF van has to be viewed as either a very brave project- restoration candidate or a set of rare parts held together by some metal sheeting to aid transportation! I say that so as there is no confusion about what you are bidding on.

What it is though is a 1982 CF that was ordered originally as a demonstrator for a local to us Vauxhall Main Dealer called Jessups. As you can imagine they put all the options on it they could including head light wipers, glass sun roof, tow bar, cloth interior and oddly enough some wood trim on the dash board. They also fitted it with the better 2279cc petrol engine and mated that to a 4 speed manual gearbox. Three months later a gent walked into their showroom and wanted a new CF of the same spec, they could not supply it to him quickly enough and sold him this one instead, he has had it ever since. So effectively a one owner van!

With very little use and then closing his business down, it was then parked on his driveway which is where it has sat ever since (last being moved apx 1997) he assures us that the mileage of 37K is original but we have no documented evidence, nor do we have reason to doubt him, he is 86 years old know so no need to make things up. Unfortunately, in an attempt to protect it from the weather he wrapped it up in tarpaulins, this has in our opinion made it worse by causing it to sweat and basically rust out the panels all round. Ironically the bonnet was not covered so survived. Inside the dash and all its controls are in good order, driver’s seat cloth has gone on the outer edge, passenger seat and door cards would go again with a little effort. Mechanically, with such low usage all should be good, even the tyres still hold air not that you would want to use them. All the lights externally are there and the front grill is good as is all the glass.

No attempt has been made to start the engine but the van rolls freely for loading purposes. We have the original V5 in hand that backs up its ownership. Starting the bidding at what we have been offered for the engine and gearbox but do not want to get involved in breaking it, so it MUST go as a unit.

ebay: 1986 Bedford CF2 Police van? - UK

This CF2 that poped up on ebay is very rusty but what is more interesting is that it may have been a police van. It still has the decals but the seller isn't sure it was a official police van. It could be a prop for a movie or TV. Either way there is still a good base for restoration.
